Self-Confidence is a human need that we all strive to attain. For me, the movie Top Gun is all about self-confidence, which Maverick (Tom Cruise) had a lot of; as Charlie(Kelly McGillis) tells him “When I first met you, you were larger than life going mach 10 with your hair on fire.” But then, he loses his self-confidence as a pilot after the accident.
He struggles to overcome his new-found fear of taking risks and making another mistake in order to regain his self-confidence, which is something everyone can relate to. If you fall off that horse and lose your confidence, the best thing to do is to get right back up on that horse again and ride. And, that’s exactly what Mavericks’ flight instructors, Viper(Tom Skeritt ) & Jester(Michael Ironside), got him to do.
True self-confidence comes from within; it doesn’t matter what anyone says or believes about you, they can’t give it to you. You have to believe in yourself first and really feel the confidence that connects deep inside of you; and then, no one can take it away from you either.
